House for Sale -- Week 10

So, we drove home today after having dinner with the Hoffman-Aho's (a family in our ward), and we found this sign in our yard. Yep... That right. We officially have a signed contract on the house. We are closing July 7th. Everything finally came together at the end. Here's the story in all its gory detail.

On Wednesday we didn't have a showing scheduled, and we are almost ready to move out (tomorrow we both take off until the first week in July). So, because we didn't have a showing scheduled, we decided to pack up a bunch of stuff, so the house was a mess. We got home from a trip to the store at 2:00 pm, and we didn't have any messages, so we thought we were safe. We worked outside for for about an hour, and when we got inside, there was a message... Someone wanted to see the house at 6:00. We started scrambling to clean up, and were very relieved when we got a call at 4:00 asking if they could reschedule for the following morning. It still took quite a while to finish cleaning the house, but we did, and the next morning left so the house could be shown.

When we got back about 2:00 pm (we had a bunch of errands to run), we had another message saying the people wanted to come back for another look at 4:00. We mopped the floor again, and left. At about 9:30 that night, our realtor, Ella Williams, called and said that we had a contract on the house. She said that the contract was for $172k, and that it was contingent on the sale of the buyers home, and that she normally recommends not accepting that because you never know what will happen. But, she said between the time that they wrote the contract and 9:30, someone had put down an offer on their home. So, we countered with $174, along with no contingencies, and they accepted. On Saturday, we got their contract, changed a couple of little things, and today everything was initialed and signed.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
