Kirtland

In the early days of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints, Kirtland was a gathering spot for the saints. There they built the first temple of this dispensation. After our camping trip last week, we continued down to Kirtland to meet with Jenny's family and to tour the temple and some of the historical sites in the area. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I've added these pictures to tell a story...
Here are Benjamin and Jeffrey, ready to enter the temple visitor's center. Aren't they nice, quite and reverent boys?
Here is the Kirtland temple. Jeffrey took the picture. (Well, this is his third try. The first two I was decapitated. He'll learn...)Here's the whole family in front of the temple.
During poses in front of the temple, we cought Jonny showing his true feelings for Jeffrey... Is there a plot ongoing that we missed? What will Jonny do to frame Jeffrey? Continue to find out.
Here are Jonny and Benjamin in Kirtland, at the site of the first baptisms in the Kirtland area. From the picture, it looks like they are showing brotherly love.... But was Jonny actually trying to throw Benjamin in the water???
Here's a view of the Newel K. Whitney store.

Benjamin is such a big helper. At the ashery (a replica of where they would make soap), Benjamin offered to help push a wheelbarrow full of ash for them. Luckily, he didn't tip it over.
Everyone was enthralled at the sister missionaries explanation of how to make soap.
Jeffrey is still being reverent, with his arms folded, quietly listening.... What? You don't believe that Jeffrey was an angel the entire time? Just because he didn't get any sleep the night before (we were camping) and it was 85 degrees outside, and about 250% humidity...
Well, you would be right. Here's Jeffrey in the car at the Morley farm. He couldn't get the drinking fountain to completely fill up his water bottle... So, he decided to throw a tantrum. At least he buckled himself....
Benjamin continued to be quite cute, and Jeffrey and Jonny came around and were good for the last stop at the Morley farm. Of course, we didn't take them on the tour, we just let them play in a tree out front.

So that's our trip to Kirtland. Have a great day!
