Upper Peninsula -- Day 1

So, I've been trying to get this whole trip blogged, and decided to start from Day 3 to day 1, so that it would end up in the right order. I started off great, but it's taken me almost a week to do everything. Oh well.

Here's the story. Jenny decided that while we lived here in Michigan, one of our goals would be to swim in all 5 of the great lakes. We've already been in Lake Erie, and so have four left to go. The hardest would be Lake Superior, because it's much further away that any others. So, almost two weeks ago (Monday, Aug 18) we left for a trip to visit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We drove up for 5 hours, visited Sault Saint Marie and the Soo locks, camped at Brimley State Park on the shores of Lake Superior. We spent three days total on this trip, and had a blast.

We decided to take a picture of the boys each hour in the car... We won't subject you to all the pictures, but here is the first hour... notice they are all enthralled with the portable DVD player...Hour two... They are still enthralled.
Hour three... Ben is still happy. Is this possible?
Hour four... Ben's asleep, after some difficult moments.
Here we are crossing into the Upper Peninsula.... They didn't tell us it was a toll bridge.
Hour 5... Benjamin is happy again... Mainly because we stopped and got fudgsicles... We wisely took off his shirt.
Hour 5.5 We cleaned him up from the fudgsicle, and then he really wanted a piece of bread. He must have been very hungry from the look of things.

We made it to Sault Saint Marie by 4:00 pm, and went straight to the locks... Luckily for us, a boat was coming through within 20 minutes....

to be continued...
